Where is my data stored?

When you enable Sync & Backup, your data is encrypted immediately on your device. The encrypted data is then uploaded to GoDuck servers to stay in sync with your other devices. (You can also restore your synced data using your Recovery Code if you lose your device.) GoDuck cannot decrypt or access your data at any time.

What is end-to-end encryption?

When you enable Sync & Backup, your device generates a unique encryption key locally. A copy of this encryption key is saved on your other synced devices and stored within your Recovery Code in case your devices are lost or damaged.

End-to-end encryption means your data is encrypted before being uploaded to GoDuck servers and only decrypted after being downloaded to your other devices. In other words, your data remains encrypted from one end (your first device) to the other (your second device) and is only readable in plain text on devices that contain the encryption key.

GoDuck cannot access the encryption key and therefore cannot read the data stored on our servers. Even if someone were to breach our servers and access your data, it would remain encrypted and unreadable without your encryption key.

What data is synced?

Sync & Backup covers your bookmarks, passwords, and Email Protection account. We plan to add more types of data synchronization in the future.

Can I sync only bookmarks without passwords, or vice versa?

Currently, Sync & Backup is an all-or-nothing feature. We plan to add selective synchronization options for different types of data in the future.

Is there a storage limit for synced data?

Yes, but we've set a very high limit that's only meant to prevent abuse. Users are unlikely to reach this limit during normal usage.
